13 days, 13 videos, these are my stats. 75 seconds was the average duration, and 281 views per video with a completion rate of 7%. Which also happens to be the most important metric to me. 258 people watched any one of my videos right up to the end. Here is a full breakdown if you want to pause to look at the video. And as a result of this, 17 followers.
My key reflection so far is that making videos has forced me to really clearly articulate my thoughts and to deliver that message in as concise and efficient a way as possible. Also incredibly difficult when these two think they are the lead actors.
The data that sticks out to me is that for my two best videos that had 46 people watched to the end, they each had different durations. One was 30 seconds and the other was 72 seconds. So the length itself isn't the rule. It's the content message and the delivery that is. Which means that I have to get sharper at both what I'm saying and how I'm saying it.
My overall goal here is that I'm not optimizing for attention. I'm optimizing to make people think about themselves. And that's what I mean if you look at my profile when I say I want to give attention back to you. Feels a little bit tacky right now, I'm working on it. I'm open to feedback.
With all this in mind, what I'm doing is I'm pivoting away from my initial commitment of 100 videos over 50 days, because I realize I need to focus on the actual workflow itself so that I can find a balance between efficiency and quality.
Finally, if you're one of those 17 people watching, thank you, I'll see you in the next video.
