The problem — why Lattris exists

AI is only as useful as what it has to work from.

For a person, that includes far more than what you type into a prompt — your experience, decisions, work, preferences, records and relationships, along with what you've learned, what worked, what didn't, and the context behind the choices you've made over time.

The obvious answer is to capture more of it.

But simply collecting information is not enough.

Three problems stand in the way.

1. Your digital record is scattered

Your information already exists across messages, apps, documents, photos, cloud storage and the systems you use every day.

But it is fragmented, stored in different formats, and often controlled by the applications holding it.

Having information somewhere is not the same as having a usable record you control.

2. More context is not better context

AI needs the right context - not simply more of it.

That creates three problems of its own:

  • Retrieval - finding the right knowledge for the job at hand.
  • Truth - keeping what actually happened separate from what was inferred, summarised or assumed.
  • Change - allowing old knowledge to be corrected, replaced or retired as things evolve.

An AI can produce a convincing interpretation and still get part of it wrong.

If that interpretation later becomes indistinguishable from fact, bad context will result in worse answers.

3. Doing this properly becomes infrastructure

You can start with folders, notes or a database.

But once AI is expected to rely on the information - or you want to share parts of it safely - structure, permissions, privacy, origin, security, identity, change and access control stop being optional.

This is the problem Lattris is designed to solve.

Lattris gives a person a place to hold their knowledge in a form AI can use, while keeping ownership and control with the person who created it.

Keep it private.

Use it with the AI you choose.

Share specific parts with people you trust.

Publish what you want.

Take access back when you choose.
